The Ivy League of the Midwest
In 1867 Joseph Baldwin founded the Normal School in Kirksville, MO. Originally a teacher-training school, it has grown into the premier liberal arts and science university of the Midwest. Over the years its gone through several name changes, and even physical changes. Before 1924 a lake rested in what is now known as the Quad, until it was drained to try and put out a fire which destroyed Baldwin Library.
